The genre of the magazine I believe is rock with its iconic name rolling stone as its mast head and its cover story consisting of PINK FLOYD, which is arguably one of the best more classic rock bands from the UK. The rock genre is backed up with the addition of an American rock band THE WHITE STRIPES. bottom right but I don't think this magazine is created just for one genre. Chris Daughtry who is apparently a R&B singer/rapper. the flames also hint that it might be a rock magazine as well as the name of the famous band the rolling stones but this could be just a coincidence.
With the genre being rock, most of its audience are a fan of rock music or music listeners of all ages. Pink Floyed 30+ mostly male. But The White Stripes 15+ again mostly males just because the genre isn't steriotypical what a woman would listen too.
The layout of the magazine is centred around the picture with the mast head at the top of the page. with a central position and cover stories around the edges of the picture. to show as much of the medium close up shot as possible. I especially like the position of "the next war on download" story. drawing your attention from reading the mast head. The mise-en-scene(everything on the page) of the cover works well by not being over filled with stories and the picture being the centre of attention.
The genre of this magazine is rock. I know this by firstly the mast head " classic rock" bold black lettering grabs your attention. the next point that gives it the genre of rock is the main cover story. the iconic rock band Aerosmith with there lead singer Steven Tyler, the pictures long shot suggests the power and fame he has. the final point is the colours used.Black,Red and Gold. Black is associated with being dark which rock can be.Red is associated with Danger defiantly rock has some danger in it and finally Gold.Money
With the genre being rock, most of its audience listen to rock music or music listeners of all ages. Aerosmith was founded around 1970 so most of there fans will be 45+ Males same goes with the other cover story of THIN LIZZY and Ronnie Wood from the rolling stones. but obviously women like the same music around the same age.
The layout of the magazine is centred around the picture of Steven Tyler with the Mast head at the top behind him. his Band is central of the page drawing your eyes first but not distracting from the picture. the other cover stories surrounding him but are separate so not to get confused if its linked with the picture finally I like the situation of the "UK's fasted growing music magazine" showing its importance but not distracting from the main storeys.
